Ayla Networks, a global Internet of Things (IoT) platform for manufacturers, is teaming with SideChef, an award-winning cooking software developer, to help manufacturers of kitchen appliances design forward-thinking smart cooking experiences for consumers.

The SideChef app helps inexperienced cooks master the basics and allows more advanced cooks to accelerate their proficiency. By incorporating Ayla IoT platform technology along with SideChef content and mobile expertise, manufacturers of ovens, ranges, cooktops, hoods and other kitchen appliances can more quickly design smart appliances that transform consumers’ cooking experience.

For instance, connected appliances integrating Ayla IoT platform connectivity with the SideChef mobile app can automate, monitor or prompt various steps of the cooking process, such as preheating an oven, lowering the temperature of a cooktop to a simmer, alerting a consumer that it’s time to flip a steak or add herbs to a sauce, or suggesting the best cooking mode for a particular recipe.

“Building smart cooking capabilities into hardware appliances themselves takes the SideChef concept to another level, which we believe today’s cooks and aspiring cooks will appreciate,” said Kevin Yu, CEO and founder of SideChef. “As soon as we came across Ayla, we recognized that partnering with them, and capitalizing on their underlying IoT technology expertise, will help both companies grow a network of appliance manufacturers and partners globally.”

“It makes good sense for Ayla and SideChef to team up in working with kitchen appliance manufacturers worldwide,” said Rod McLane, senior director of marketing for Ayla Networks. “SideChef’s award-winning mobile software provides ‘sizzle’ at the front end, while Ayla’s comprehensive IoT platform technology provides the back-end connectivity, security and reliability needed for high-performing smart cooking experiences.”
