BlueMetal, an Insight Enterprises company, announced it has won the 2016 Microsoft Internet of Things (IoT) Worldwide Partner of the Year Award. BlueMetal was honored, among a global field of top Microsoft partners, for demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of client solutions based on Microsoft technology.

BlueMetal was engaged by Weka Health Solutions, which provides the pharmaceutical industry with proprietary software and state-of-the-art technology products, to help them develop an innovative new device, the Vaccine Smart-Fridge. The Vaccine Smart-Fridge is an IoT-enabled device that will be deployed in the field to help the clinical workforce manage vaccine distribution in the U.S. and countries in the developing world.

“There is a pressing global demand for modernized vaccine distribution around the world in a way that keeps vaccines fresh, secure and accounted for,” said Alan Lowenstein, Weka Health Solutions COO. “BlueMetal was instrumental in helping us IoT-enable our product to include real-time reporting, analytics and alerts to mobile devices, aiding in the enhancement of patient safety and overall improvements to supply chain workflow.”

BlueMetal also developed a comprehensive dashboard application for the Vaccine Smart-Fridge, providing data visualization of every unit in real time at multiple locations, using over 40 sensors in each unit that continuously communicate telemetry data from each Vaccine Smart-Fridge.

“We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done helping our client, Weka Health Solutions, create intelligent refrigeration technology that will get much-needed vaccines to developing countries around the world,” said Scott Jamison, VP services, BlueMetal an Insight Company. “This is a perfect example of how the Internet of Things can transform lives, and we are grateful for being able to work with Microsoft in creating and building this innovative solution.”

Awards were presented in several categories, with winners chosen from a set of more than 2,500 entrants from 119 countries worldwide. BlueMetal was recognized for providing outstanding solutions and services in the IoT category.

“Our ecosystem of great partners is the cornerstone to delivering innovative and transformative solutions to our mutual customers,” said Gavriella Schuster, general manager, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased to recognize BlueMetal for being selected as the winner of the 2016 Microsoft Internet of Things Partner of the Year award.”
