Borqs International Holding Corp, a global leading provider of smart connected devices and cloud service solutions for IoT, announced at COMPUTEX 2016 that it will showcase its kids, elderly and adult wearable reference designs, including prototypes and E2E cloud solution at the Qualcomm Technologies’ Wearables Event. The reference designs are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 system-on-chip (SoC), a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated.

At Mobile World Congress 2016, Qualcomm Technologies announced Borqs as one of three original device manufacturers (ODMs) that will offer reference designs based on the Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC which is targeted for next generation connected and tethered smartwatches, kid and elderly watches, smart bands, smart eyewear and smart headsets. Borqs has developed customized reference designs that bring out leadership innovations in battery life, 3G/4G connectivity, user interface and cool designs and are ready for commercial launches by our OEM partners starting 2H’16 globally.

“The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor supports the most important features that the next generation of wearable devices needs — always-on connectivity in a compact size with low power usage for long battery life,” said Pankaj Kedia, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc. “We are delighted to be working with Borqs on reference designs targeting such high-growth segments as kid, elderly, and adult connected smartwatches. Our ongoing collaboration will help our customers bring innovative wearable products to consumers and strengthen our technology leadership in the wearables ecosystem.”

“The Snapdragon Wear ecosystem opens exciting new possibilities for Borqs to accelerate design, development and deployment of innovative wearables, and we are delighted to showcase our innovative reference designs and products at this event,” said Hareesh Ramanna, senior vice president and general manager of product development at Borqs. “As the demand for smartwatches across kids, elderly and enterprise segments increases worldwide, Borqs’ targeted smart connected devices that leverage our Snapdragon Wear 2100 based reference designs with the customizable E2E cloud platform as the deployment channel, will enable our OEM partners to accelerate the deployment of innovative wearable devices and be successful in a wide variety of vertical markets.”
