Elemental Machines announced that CEO Sridhar Iyengar will present at Slush, the world-renowned non-profit event that brings together the leading actors in the global tech ecosystem — entrepreneurs, investors, students and industry experts. Taking place Nov 30-Dec 1, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland, Slush is focused on accelerating the global growth of startups.
Iyengar’s session, “Hard Science | The Last Frontier for IoT,” will be featured in the “The next 100 years of your life” program track, covering the topics of biotech, education and work, health and wellbeing and science.
What:
Iyengar will explore how IoT technologies can solve scientific challenges, accelerating innovation with sensors and machine learning applications designed around complex processes of biology and chemistry.
Why:
The complexities of science-based businesses—especially ones rooted in synthetic biology, genomics and material science—make them daunting for entrepreneurs and investors because science and research is often unpredictable, time consuming and capital intensive. Iyengar will explain how the same IoT “tech stack” that provides the underpinnings of massive consumer markets is moving into scientific companies and transforming how these industries operate.
When and Where:
Thursday, December 1 at 5:20 p.m. on the Green Stage
Who:
Iyengar is the founder and CEO of Elemental Machines, a company building the Sensory Network for life sciences and other science-based industries. He previously was a founder and CTO of Misfit, which was acquired by Fossil in 2015, and also founded AgaMatrix, a blood glucose monitoring company that made the world’s first medical device connecting to the iPhone and shipped 15+ FDA-cleared medical products. Iyengar holds over 30 U.S. and international patents.
Other distinguished speakers scheduled for Slush 2016 include:
— Nicolas Cary, co-founder, Blockchain
— Juliet de Baubigny, partner, KPCB
— Daniel Ek, founder, Spotify
— Steve Jurvetson, partner, DFJ ventures
