Glasses, wristware, environmentally responsive clothing and new fabrics will be showcased as Living in Digital Times presents its well-known FashionWare runway show for the first time at Augmented World Expo 2014. The live show and cocktail party will take place on May 28th at 5:30 p.m. PT at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. Earlier in the afternoon, as part of the conference sessions, there will be an expert panel: High Tech Meets High Fashion, discussing trends in the wearable tech category at 1:30 p.m. PT in the Main Theater.
“The building blocks for a smart fashion revolution are coming together as we speak,” said Robin Raskin, founder of Living in Digital Times. “Sensors, low energy Bluetooth and mobile devices, as well as new high tech fabrics will recreate what it means to combine style and function. The designers we’re showcasing during FashionWare at Augmented World Expo are world-class fashion pioneers.”
“At Augmented World Expo, our conference looks at the human body as a platform for augmenting reality and making the world more interactive. Great design and wearability will determine success,” said Ori Inbar, co-founder and CEO of AugmentedReality.ORG. “We’re thrilled that we’ve gone beyond the ‘let’s make it work’ phase to the point where we’re saying ‘let’s make it beautiful.’”
Sweaters that change color with one’s mood, clothing brought to life by its environmental factors like noise, or a bracelet that monitors one’s sun exposure are just a few examples of the pieces that will be taking the runway. A partial list of designers and technologies featured, will include:
