NRF 2017Unlike the CES 2017 post I made on LinkedIn – which to my surprise became quite a hit – this time around I am providing a quick summary:

Intel will invest $100 Million in Retail
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich spoke at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show Conference (NRF17) earlier this week and announced the chipmaker’s Responsive Retail Platform (Intel® RRP), a new horizontal platform that fosters the creation of highly flexible, scalable and innovative solutions. By bringing together retail hardware, software, APIs and sensors in a standardized way, the platform will take retail to the next era of highly efficient and personalized shopping, and intelligently lead businesses into the future.

Tally Robot
Talley by Simbe Robotics is the world’s first robotic autonomous shelf auditing and analytics solution for retail. Tally works in concert with retail associates by arming them with information to ensure the store’s products are always stocked, in the right place and displaying the correct price tag. Tally is powered by Intel NUC with Intel Core i7 Processor and uses a number of cameras powered by Intel RealSense Technology to help understand the world around it.

Mr. Krzanich also announced plans to invest $100 million in the retail industry with this new platform over the next 5 years. The investment will enable retailers to unify every part of their operations, create a positive impact on their bottom line, and solve longstanding business challenges.

  • The Vision Retail Platform, which seamlessly connects RFID tags, sensors, gateways and the cloud to deliver actionable insights across retail applications when and where data is needed within the store.

Avery Dennison showcased its latest innovations in RFID solutions
Through its RFID innovations, Avery Dennison is enabling the connection between the physical and digital worlds, connecting products with the internet of things to improve consumer omnichannel experience.

Tyco Retail Solutions unveiled its portfolio of IoT-enabled solutions
With IoT-enabled solutions from Tyco Retail, retailers are empowered and informed to maximize business outcomes and create the personalized, seamless experience consumers seek in this digitally-driven shopping world.

Honeywell and Intel will Develop Solutions for Retailers and Logistics Providers
Honeywell will collaborate with Intel to develop new Internet of Things solutions for the retail industry to enhance logistics, improve inventory visibility and drive supply chain efficiencies.

The Honeywell and Intel collaboration will focus on developing solutions that improve operations for retail businesses, which are faced with enormous challenges to maintain profitability and compete in an environment where consumers are more often shifting to online shopping.

Acuity Brands showcased its advancements IoT technology
Acuity Brands delivers embedded Indoor Positioning technology within wirelessly controlled LED luminaires, allowing retailers to save considerable energy and maintenance costs, while deriving highly accurate, real-time location of loyal customers, employees and critical assets. Acuity Brands has leveraged the Microsoft Azure cloud platform to deliver an affordable, scalable and secured IoT infrastructure to address multiple business needs.

LNL Systems demoed the First Retail IoT Platform to Power the Smart Sales Floor
LNL Systems’ innovative Internet of Things platform powers the sales floor by transforming alerts from connected in-store devices into actionable messages for retail associates and managers—and into data for consolidated trend analysis.

BT Deploys Digital Store Pilot Solution For Thomas Pink
Thomas Pink deployed the Acuitas Digital Internet of Things (IoT) platform, which helps retailers to digitize the physical store, at its Wall Street New York City store. Thomas Pink installed the pilot Acuitas Digital IoT digital store solution as part of its digital strategy. It will enable the retailer to track in real time the movement of merchandise and people around the store, use big data analytics to predict shopper behavior and provide a foundation for real-time interactive in-store experiences. This will help the retailer personalize customer service, optimize store layout, improve employee workflows, reduce cost and grow sales.

Neiman Marcus Last Call Stores Rolls Out Theatro’s Voice-Controlled Wearables
Luxury fashion retailer Neiman Marcus and Theatr rolled out innovative voice controlled wearables as a service to several of the Neiman Marcus Last Call locations. The Theatro service enables Neiman Marcus Last Call to streamline operations, heighten customer service, and improve staff efficiency in its stores.

Samsung’s Next-generation IoT Innovations
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. unveiled retail innovations that can assist traditional brick-and-mortar retailers with delivering more engaging and personalized mobile-first customer shopping experiences. Samsung’s Internet of Things (IoT) inspired retail solution bring together Samsung products – including mobile devices, digital signage, defense-grade Knox security and wireless infrastructure – with software and services from Samsung SDS and SapientRazorfish to demonstrate transformative digital experiences that bridge online and in-store shopping technologies.

WestRock Company unveiled an IoT Connected Packaging Solution
WestRock Company unveiled a connected packaging solution for smart products that combines Digimarc’s enabled barcode technology, with EVRYTHNG’s IoT Smart Products Platform to bring embedded, real time, connected digital intelligence to billons of WestRock packages, in-store signs and displays produced annually.

 

APEX Revealed its IoT Automated Dispensing TechnologyApex Supply Chain Technologies unveiled its comprehensive offering of automated dispensing technology. The Apex AnyWhere™ line of self-serve automation systems address retailer’s needs from the store level with customer-facing, click & collect technology, through the supply chain with asset management lockers, to improve the customer experience and retail operations.

JDA Highlighted the Store of the Future and the Benefits of Digital Transformation
JDA’s theme was Retail Reimagined, reflecting the industry transformation currently underway, as it reinvents itself to better serve the needs of the modern shopper. Retail Reimagined encompasses JDA’s solutions for Intelligent Planning, Intelligent Fulfillment and Intelligent Store, each providing capabilities to help drive profitable sales growth and an exceptional customer experience.

PTC demoed a Connected PLM solution
PTC is shaping the future of retail by leveraging the power of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to bring Connected PLM from concept to reality. To showcase this, PTC provided end-to-end demos that highlighted the capabilities of the PTC FlexPLM® retail product lifecycle management (PLM) software from planning, to design and product development, to sourcing through selling.

NCR and Freshub had Interactive Demos of the Smart Connected Kitchen of the Future
NCR Corporation together with Freshub provided live demonstrations of groundbreaking Smart Kitchen Commerce solution as well as the innovative technology at work behind the scenes. This first-of-its-kind technology is bridging the physical and digital worlds by creating a kitchen controlled by both voice and motion technology while keeping consumers connected to their favorite retailers and eCommerce providers.
