Uplogix begins exhibiting at the Cisco Live World of Solutions today, demonstrating its Local Management Platform. With the “Internet of Everything” serving as a main topic for this year’s annual gathering of networkers, the Uplogix solution plays a key role in bringing secure, reliable and affordable automation to local network infrastructure, a requirement for future success in connecting billions of devices to the network.
The Internet of Things (IoT) discussion is a fairly recent topic, but Uplogix has established itself in the machine-to-machine (M2M) realm, the market segment that is leading industry of the IoT. Uplogix has provided machine-based management of M2M systems in the utility, energy production and distribution and communications sectors for years. In these applications, Uplogix has reduced the support costs and increased uptime and helped enable new revenue opportunities for the rapidly increasing numbers of remote devices connected to the network via traditional IT methods or via cellular, microwave or satellite connectivity.
As the number of connected devices continues to expand, the impact on the underlying network infrastructure becomes more dramatic and critical. To scale infrastructure to keep up with the billions of endpoints, new levels of security and management will be required to ensure efficiency, reliability and affordability.
“We’ve been delivering a new approach to secure network automation since before people were using terms like the Internet of Things and M2M,” said Lisa Frankovitch, Uplogix SVP – Sales & Business Development. “Managing the growing infrastructure will demand more automation and reliability to scale to handle billions of new devices—traditional approaches won’t cut it.”
In the historic network management model, growing infrastructure meant expanding support staff. Uplogix allows IT to manage more devices, with higher SLAs by deploying locally with the infrastructure being managed. Direct connections to devices ensure that Uplogix is not dependent on the network to manage the network. This difference from traditional network management is the key to the reliability required for automation that scales up to IoT levels.
Uplogix will be demonstrating the Local Management platform in booth #238 of the Cisco Live World of Solutions from Monday, May 19th through May 22nd. For more information on Cisco Live 2014, visit ciscolive.com/us, or follow #CLUS on Twitter.
