Numerex Corp, a leading provider of managed enterprise solutions enabling the Internet of Things (IoT) announced the release of mySHIELD SOS, a wearable mobile personal emergency response (mPERS) system designed to enhance the safety of lone workers, the elderly, and others. Built on Numerex’s versatile IoT platform, mySHIELD SOS is a complete solution – incorporating a device, network service, and a hosted, cloud based application – as an off the shelf managed service that helps improve the safety of workers in the real estate, healthcare, education, security, energy, or any industry where people often work alone, or are likely to find themselves in potentially vulnerable situations where safety could be jeopardized.

“The mySHIELD SOS solution is the latest in the line of innovative personal safety wearables built on the versatile and proven Numerex platform, and powered by the Sprint Network,” said Shu Gan, Chief Marketing Officer at Numerex. “The market for personal safety solutions is a key area of interest for Numerex. We know there are many companies who employ workers that often find themselves in potentially unsafe situations—whether they work alone or in higher-risk occupations. We believe that this solution will have broad appeal and could ensure a measure of safety to workers enabling them to quickly summon help in an emergency.”

Numerex’s cloud-based mySHIELD SOS solution is a packaged, ready to deploy IoT solution which utilizes cellular technology and works both indoors and outdoors. With a simple push of a panic button, users can easily communicate their need for assistance, transmit their precise location, and alert a call-center that is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The mySHIELD SOS solution operates anywhere across North America that the Sprint network is available, and therefore does not ‘tether’ users to a home base station but travels with them wherever they go, making it one of the most versatile personal safety solutions on the market and a perfect fit for industrial, enterprise and commercial use.

“Sprint is pleased to partner with Numerex to launch the mySHIELD SOS solution powered by the Sprint Network,” said Mohamad Nasser, General Manager of IoT at Sprint. “This wearable personal safety solution will help Sprint business customers improved the safety of their employees in a wide variety of industries, i.e. real estate, energy, security, construction, healthcare, and education, etc. Sprint looks forward to advancing personal safety by offering the mySHIELD SOS solution to our customers as we believe this solution will be a valuable tool for many businesses who want to ensure the well-being of their employees. Our partnership with Numerex demonstrates Sprint’s leadership in delivering innovative machine-to-machine (M2M) products and technologies that will drive the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and help our customers achieve success.”

mySHIELD SOS is a business solution, and allows managers to combine multiple device wearers into groups and sub-groups based on their organization’s requirements. This allows managers to view the location and status of all wearers for which they are responsible. In addition, the mySHIELD SOS solution provides a dashboard that enables administrators to locate users with mapped views, and to schedule automated alerts and notifications via email and text messaging.
