Semtech Corporation, a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced it will team up with Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of communications equipment for the Internet of Things (IoT), to demonstrate a broad range of IoT applications at the DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida on February 9-11.
As announced in October of last year, MultiTech developed and launched its MultiConnect® family of LoRaWAN gateways and RF modules, which is a complete platform that enables the development of IoT solutions for agricultural, industrial, utility, smart city and healthcare applications. Semtech and MultiTech will both be providing demonstrations of these applications in their booths.
The Semtech booth (#2035) will showcase a smart agriculture solution that is capable of providing detailed light, moisture, temperature and humidity measurements to help farmers optimize their yields and minimize waste in both horticulture and animal husbandry. In addition, Semtech will also display a building automation application that demonstrates how facilities managers can manage building temperatures and optimize heating and cooling costs.
“We’re excited to work with MultiTech to show how its LoRa™-based MultiConnect platform is being used to enable effective IoT applications that help businesses become more efficient and offer better services,” said Hardy Schmidbauer, Director of Wireless Products for Semtech’s Wireless Sensing and Timing Product group.
In addition to the solutions presented in the Semtech booth, the MultiTech booth (#2438) will show a tank monitoring system that can be used to monitor the condition of water, oil, gas and hazardous materials as well as a health and safety solution for helmets that can monitor the force and trajectory of impacts to the head so that physicians can understand and treat patients who suffer from head related injuries in contact sports such as football.
“We are happy we chose to work with Semtech to develop a comprehensive LoRaWAN platform for industrial IoT applications,” said Daniel Quant Vice President, Product Management and Strategic Marketing at MultiTech. “Our customers are truly doing some remarkable things with the MultiConnect Conduit gateway & mDot module, and DistribuTECH provides us with a perfect stage to showcase these innovative IoT solutions.”
Semtech and MultiTech are both founding members of the LoRa Alliance, an international group of IoT industry leaders, telecom operators and solutions providers that work to globally standardize LoRaWAN and provide an open platform to scale IoT, M2M and smart city applications.
