Smart Vanity Mirror

Element Electronics, in partnership with FaceCake Marketing Technologies, Inc., debuted a NextGen vanity mirror and an Augmented Reality experience all in one here in Las Vegas at CES 2017, January 5-8.

Most of us have been there. Wishing for a magic mirror that shows you what your makeup looks like before you apply it – potentially avoiding that dreaded lipstick or eye shadow mistake.

Through the miracle of technological innovation courtesy of Element Electronics and Augmented Reality leader FaceCake, you can now have your cake and eat it too (pun intended). That is, if your “cake” is a great vanity mirror and you are “sampling” a variety of no-risk makeup looks while multi-tasking.

It’s a mirror, but it is also so much more.

This traditional and sophisticated vanity mirror with adjustable LED lights and a sensor that accounts for the natural or artificial lighting conditions of the room can instantly transition into a personalized AR environment that lets consumers virtually see cosmetics and accessories – whether they own them or not – on their real-time reflection while receiving personalized recommendations and purchase options.

“Element Electronics and FaceCake have come together to provide the future to consumers now,” said Mike O’Shaughnessy, founder and CEO, Element Electronics. “This smart vanity mirror aligns with Element Electronics’ mission to bring amazing technology, affordably priced, to all consumers.”

FaceCake busted retail shopping norms with the creation of the first 3D virtual dressing room, Swivel – the original augmented reality product that allows shoppers to envision themselves in clothing and accessories – and subsequent augmented retail solutions. FaceCake partnered with Element Electronics, the Winnsboro, South Carolina-based consumer electronics company known for its U.S.-assembled flat screen TV monitors, because of its commitment to bringing amazing technology to consumers while remaining affordably priced.

“We are excited to partner with Element Electronics bringing the vanity mirror of the future into the home,” said Linda Smith, Founder and CEO of FaceCake. “An intuitive, smart mirror with professional quality lighting and an accessible price, it’s the makeup mirror only dreamed of before with Augmented Reality features that allow for virtual makeovers, personalized recommendations, social sharing, and shopping from the comfort of your own home.”

A combination of classic meets current, the smart vanity mirror that augments your reality is an IoT (Internet of Things) product that will find itself right at home in any home and is expected to hit store shelves in the Spring at a retailer near you.
