Intel Galileo

Not too long ago Microsoft announced it will be supporting Windows 10 on the Intel Galileo board.  And now this, from the Windows Dev Center:

Support for Windows on Intel Galileo Gen 1 and Gen 2 will end on November 30, 2015

As we continue to focus on providing a great experience for Makers with Windows 10 IoT Core, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Windows support on the Galileo platform. We’ve seen some fantastic innovation with the platform, but unfortunately, it does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 10 IoT Core. Please click here to learn more.

And what happens when you “click here”?  You end up on the Raspberry PI Windows Dev Center page:

What can I do with my existing projects on Galileo?

Wiring support is now available on Windows 10 IoT Core running on Raspberry Pi 2. This allows you to migrate your existing Galileo projects to Windows 10 IoT Core.

Maybe it’s for the better. Who knows what would have happened if Microsoft Windows ran on both the IBM PC as well as the Apple Macintosh?
