SurfaceInk, the leading provider of consumer device engineering and product development services since 1999, announced that it is working with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, to provide reference designs for upcoming smart wearable and IoT solutions based on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 1100 processor. The announcement comes as WeBandz, a smart wearable tracking bracelet for kids, comes to market. SurfaceInk provided full cycle product development on WeBandz and incorporated the Snapdragon Wear 1100, designed for the next generation of targeted-purpose wearable segments and CSR102x Bluetooth® Smart 4.2, into its design.
“We are excited to team up with Qualcomm Technologies as a Snapdragon Wear platform ecosystem provider, delivering reference designs that will give our customers a head start on their product development,” said Eric Bauswell, founder & CEO, SurfaceInk. “Our work together on WeBandz is just the tip of the iceberg, and we look forward to future products and innovation that will result from this collaboration.”
“Reference designs are invaluable tools for our customers looking to expedite time-to-development for their products,” said Pankaj Kedia, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc. “The innovative designs that Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 1100 supports will make it possible for SurfaceInk to unleash the next wave of smart wearable and IoT devices to consumers.”
SurfaceInk has lent its product design and development expertise on hundreds of product collaborations with a focus on three key areas:
- Time-to-Market – SurfaceInk works with their clients to help them ship on time.
- Design Integrity – The SurfaceInk Way takes the client from concept to production and preserves the original vision.
- Risk Management – SurfaceInk works to break things early in order to mitigate the risk that things will break later.
“SurfaceInk played an integral role in the development of WeBandz,” said Ryan Shapiro, CEO, WeBandz. “From industrial design to mechanical engineering to firmware development, SurfaceInk provided the guidance and expertise needed to ensure that the final WeBandz product coincided with what we initially set out to create.”
