The United States Army has named WISER Systems, Inc. a Phase II awardee and semifinalist in the inaugural United States Army Expeditionary Technology Search (xTechSearch).

As a Phase II winner, WISER joins just 24 other xTechSearch semifinalists from across the country. In this capacity WISER representatives will travel to Washington D.C. next month to present live at the Association of the United States Army’s 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition.

The AUSA’s Annual Meeting is the “largest land power exposition and professional development forum in North America” according to the event’s website. This year’s exposition will feature more than 600 exhibitors. It will also host as many as 30,000 attendees from more than half the world’s countries.

“We’re deeply honored to advance to the semifinal round of the xTechSearch initiative,” said WISER CEO Dr. Elaine C. Rideout. “It will be incredibly gratifying to advance new uses for our technology in support of our troops. We are grateful for the opportunity to present alongside so many military leaders and industrial experts next month.”

In addition to the exposition hall, the AUSA event includes a robust schedule of panels, discussions, networking events, and seminars. These activities are designed to showcase the United State Army’s current capabilities, to share knowledge on other products and solutions in the industry, and to relay relevant military information to civic and industrial leaders.

WISER will display its real-time asset tracking technology on Monday, Oct. 8 in the event’s Innovator’s Corner — a designated area for xTechSearch Phase II winners to showcase new solutions in line with the Army’s priorities for modernization. Phase II winners will also give formal presentations of their technologies, spaced out across the three days of the AUSA event.

WISER secured a Phase I Award earlier this summer after competing among 300 entrants. Company representatives then presented WISER’s instantaneous asset visibility solution live in Adelphi, MD, as part of xTechSearch’s competition for Phase II awards. WISER is the only North Carolina company advancing on to Phase III of the competition.

The Army launched the xTechSearch program this year with the goal of connecting Army R&D efforts with nontraditional defense innovators, such as small businesses and entrepreneurs. xTech Search is currently exploring technologies related to cyber warfare, dynamic hardware / software infrastructure, situational awareness, improved navigation, and other topics. To accelerate technology concepts that may benefit Army stakeholders, the program will award $2M to competing companies over the next several months. The program’s goals include “integrating the sector of nontraditional innovators into the Army’s research and development ecosystem.”

WISER RRLT is designed to locate and track any kind of vital asset, reporting 3D locations instantaneously even as assets move. This delivers granular visibility with sub-meter — and generally inch-level — accuracy even in highly complex locations. This system advances Army priorities like improved situational awareness by delivering autonomous, immediate location data for all tagged assets.

The 2018 AUSA National Meeting will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. from October 8-10.
