wot.io™, the data service exchange™ for connected device platforms, announced that it has joined Atmel®’s Cloud Ecosystem Partners program. In this collaboration, wot.io’s Ship IoT™ cloud services will be available to developers using Atmel connected hardware. Ship IoT enables enterprise developers using Atmel developer kits to build scalable Internet of Things (IoT) applications quickly by leveraging a bundle of pre-integrated data services in the cloud: PubNub, Circonus, Scriptr, and bip.io. Enterprise customers can scale from a few devices to production quantities, keeping their solution deployed directly on the public cloud with the option of deploying it to their own private cloud.
“As a leader in connected devices, Atmel enables the proliferation of new devices which in turn enables innovative IoT applications,” said Mitchell Golner, vice president of product management at wot.io, “The value of IoT is in the data that IoT devices produce. wot.io’s Ship IoT cloud services enable developers to extract value from the data by building IoT applications quickly based on a core set of pre-integrated data services in wot.io’s data service exchange.”
The combined Atmel, PubNub and wot.io solution offers developers unprecedented ease in accelerating IoT or M2M designs. Several Atmel development kits are available now which can access Ship IoT initiatives including the WINC1500-XSTK, SAMW25-XPRO, SAMR21-XPRO, SAMD21-Xplained Pro and the Arduino Zero.
“We have collaborated with several market-leading companies to offer end-to-end solutions for IoT designers using our IoT and wireless connectivity solutions,” said Pierre Roux, director of wireless solutions, Atmel Corporation. “We’re committed to helping customers reduce time-to-market for their IoT deployments, and wot.io’s Ship IoT cloud services gives our developers another option to quickly prototype an IoT application and scale to production.”
Ship IoT with Atmel enables enterprise customers and industrial channel partners to quickly build IoT solutions based on Atmel hardware and a core set of data services, including support for:
- PubNub’s global data stream network (DSN) which offers real-time communication for IoT, Mobile, and Web;
- Circonus’ unified platform, which combines extensive visualization with alerting, event processing and advanced analytics tools;
- Scriptr, a cloud-based backend for IoT, mobile and web applications that provides a flexible JavaScript-based scripting engine and web-based IDE;
- bip.io, a Web API Automation with connections to numerous services including Productivity (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox), Messaging (e.g. MailChimp, Twilio), Social (e.g. Twitter, Facebook), Analytics (e.g. AlchemyAPI, Keen.io), and other services.
“Working with Atmel to accelerate and scale IoT deployments is a natural association for wot.io, because both companies believe there’s tremendous potential for increasing the speed at which our mutual customers can develop their IoT applications,” said Tom Gilley, founder and CTO of wot.io. “Our Ship IoT cloud services can turn a lengthy development process into a short one for enterprise customers. Once ready for deployment, customers have choice of deployment in the Public or Private cloud, and can augment their designs leveraging the 80+ data services available in the wot.io data service exchange.”
